Deuba-Dahal fail to forge consensus, meeting again tomorrow

Kathmandu, 23 December: The meeting between Prime Minister and Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal on the formation of the government has ended inconclusively and the duo are meeting again on Saturday afternoon.

” The current coalition will form the government but the leaders could not reach a consensus as to who will lead it,” an aide to Prime Minister said, “The discussion has been positive. Both leaders had heated discussion though they agreed to come out with  results by Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon.

Madhav Kumar Nepal, President of United Socialist Party, was also supposed to participate in the discussion, but he did not participate due to his ill health.

It may be noted that President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on December 18, had given political parties seven days to form the next government as per Article 76(2) of the Constitution of Nepal, by 5 pm Sunday, December 25.
