Koirala, Thapa fail to forge consensus

Kathmandu, 20 December: As deadline for the filing of nomination for the election of parliamentary party leader is approaching fast (Tuesday 10 am), Shekhar Koirala and Gagan Kumar Thapa, leaders of the opposition camp of Nepali Congress have failed to forge consensus among themselves.

Thapa and Koirala have not budged from their respective stances to pick a common candidate for the parliamentary party leader. This has paved smooth way for the incumbent parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba. Both Koirala and Thapa are likely to contest the election which will benefit Deuba, though other leaders have stated that they were trying to pick a common candidate.
