Kathmandu, 17 December: Chitra Bahadur KC is to administer the oath of office to the newly elected MPs and chair the House sessions until the election of a new speaker. Earlier to that he will take the oath of office from the President.
There are 165 MPs elected through FPTP elections and 110 MPs elected through proportional representation elections held on 20 November.
According to his citizenship certificate, KC is found the eldest MP elected in the House of Representatives.
KC has completed 80 years as he was born on 20 Magh, 1998 (Bikram Sambat). Another MP Mahendra Ray is 85 according to the citizenship certificate, however, he has claimed that he is just 79 years old and denied administering the oath of office to the newly elected MPs.
Earlier, Pashupati Shumsher Rana was reported for administering the oath to the MPs but he is found younger by some months than KC. Accordingly, Mahantha Thakur is also found younger than KC by some months. Both Rana and KC are 80 years old.
Rana and Thakur were born on 24 Baisakh, 1999 BS.
