Kathmandu, 9 December: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has staged sit-in at the main entrance of the Supreme Court (SC) to prevent suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana from entering into the court. It is difficult for Cholendra to evade picketing of the NBA and get into his work station.
The so-called clean-chit fiasco between the Supreme Court and the Parliament Secretariat on the ineffectiveness of impeachment motion against him has the NBA to resort to sit-in. Also security has been beefed up at the premises of the SC.
Meanwhile, a writ filed by the Supreme Bar Association’s President Purnaman Shakya, along with nine officials, challenging the letter of the Parliament’s Secretary General Bharat Gautam, is being heard in the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court today.
