
Kathmandu, 6 December: A young woman has reportedly set herself on fire at the boy’s house following the cancellation of their marriage after engagement. Twenty six -year-old Pushpa Neupane of Baneshwar, Kathmandu, set herself on fire by sprinkling petrol at the boy’s house in Dhumbarahi on Sunday evening.
The police immediately rescued her and rushed her to the Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital and was referredd to the Kirtipur-based Burn Hospital where she died on Monday morning. Sudhan Sangraula, a permanent resident of Jhapa currently residing in Dhumbarahi and Pushpa had been in a relationship for some time, got engaged with the consent of the family. In the meantime, the marriage was canceled last Saturday after there was a rift in their relationship, according to the Kathmandu Police, that prompted her to self-immolation.
