Kathmandu, 3 December: The Election Commission is going to submit the election report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari within a week. Within 30 days of the submission of the report to the President, the new Parliament has to be resumed. The new Parliament will have to elect the new President, Vice President, prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker.
It is thus believed that the nation will have to wait till January 2023 to get new faces in the leadership. Presently, the bhagbanda (post-sharing) deal is on. As a single-party government is impossible, there should be a coalition government among the big and small parties. If the Nepali Congress and UML aim to form a coalition government, other small parties will be sidelined. Accordingly, if UML and other Left parties including some small parties will forge an alliance, NC will have to play the role of the main opposition party.
The present scenario is that the existing parties in the ruling coalition may continue. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Supremo Pushpakamal Dahal and Unified Socialist Party chair Madhav Nepal are keen for sharing power and becoming the prime minister turn by turn. Bargaining for seats for the post of the President, Vice President, speaker, deputy speaker and lucrative ministries will continue, this also may delay the formation of a new government.
Be that as it may, politics will remain unstable and the loot on the government coffer will continue.
