
Kathmandu, 24 October: The Election Commission (EC) has written a letter to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) asking the anti-graft constitutional body to monitor and investigate whether the use of government resources is in accordance with the law during the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections. The EC sending a letter to CIAA today asked to investigate the use of helicopters and other government resources by the Prime Minister, Ministers and people in the province government.
“Though the EC has repeatedly drawn the attention of the political parties to abide by the code of conduct of the election, and received a commitment from the chief officials of the political party to follow the code of conduct, it has received information through various means that officials including the ministers of the federal government and the province government have been using public resources including helicopters for election campaign,” it is mentioned in the letter.
