
Kathmandu, 12 September: Preparations have been made to extend cooperation between Nepal and China at the parliamentary level. During the bilateral talks between the delegation led by visiting Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress of China Li Zhanshu and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota this evening, an agreement is being signed regarding parliamentary cooperation and exchange of visits of parliamentarians of both the countries.
President Li is landing in Kathmandu in a special plane leading a high-level delegation comprising 100 members including six senior leaders of ministerial status. Chairman Li is considered a confidant of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The government has made special arrangements for Li’s security.
President Xi sent his close friend Li to visit Nepal before the 20th People’s Congress of CPC. He is scheduled to come to Nepal via Russia and Mongolia and return to China via South Korea from Nepal. According to the Chinese constitution, he is the second rank and the third in Chinese Communist Party (CPC)’s rank.
After arriving in Nepal on this afternoon, President Li will hold bilateral talks with Speaker Sapkota at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor. Interestingly, the parliament building was built in Chinese cooperation.
