Kathmandu Valley records highest number of dengue patients

Kathmandu, 4 September: The cases of dengue is increasing at the alarming rate in the Kathmandu Valley and has the highest number of patients. Currently 37 dengue patients are admitted to the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (STIDH),  among them eight are receiving treatment in the ICU.

Around 120-160 patients are visiting the emergency department of the STIDH every day and among them around 90 per cent are found to be infected with dengue, With the spread of the virus in communities, major hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley have reported a surge in infected patients , as per reports.

According to doctors, mild to high fever, severe headache, muscle pain, rashes, pain in the eyes and vomiting are some of the symptoms of dengue. In severe dengue cases, patients show additional symptoms including abdomen pain, vomiting, bleeding from gums and nose, vomiting blood and blood in stool, feeling fatigue and restless.
