
Kathmandu, 4 September: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey is arriving here today for a five-day visit. General Pandey is visiting Nepal at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma.
As per the tradition, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, the Nepali Army’s Commander-in-Chief, will confer the honorary title of General of Nepal Army on Indian Army Chief Pandey.
Since 1951, the army chiefs of Nepal and India have been bestowed with the honorary title of General. In 2021, Chief of Army Staff Sharma was conferred the honorary title of General of the Indian Army.
Indian Army Chief Pandey is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Sher Bahdadur Deuba who is also looking after the portfolio of Defense Ministry. In presence of the Prime Minister, General Pandey will hand over assistance worth Rs 223.8 million.
