Kathmandu, 18 August: The House of Representatives called for 11 am today aims to re-endorse the citizenship amendment bill returned by the President for reconsideration.

The HoR enjoying a majority of the coalition partners has decided to ratify the bill without reconsideration.

K.P. Sharma Oli, leader of the main opposition party UML, has said that this is the arrogance of the majority exhibited by the five-party alliance government.

The main objectional provision in the citizenship amendment bill is providing instant citizenship to those foreigners married to Nepali citizens. This provision has been introduced for empowering all rights for the Indians married to Nepali citizens.

Since the announcement of the election date, the present government has turned into a caretaker government but it is intended to take such a long-impacting decision by ratifying the citizenship amendment bill. Also, it is funny to notice that the House is on even after the announcement of the election.
