Kathmandu, 24 July: Citizenship is not just a piece of paper but is linked to the country’s self-respect, freedom and existence. There is no policy anywhere in the world where any foreigner gets citizenship immediately upon marriage.
Though there are no two opinions on the fact that all Nepalis should get citizenship simply and easily, it is unacceptable to provide foreigners citizenship at once . Now Nepalis should punish those who make anti-national decisions for the sake of power and self-interest. We should raise voice against any move that undermines our sovereignty and integrity and continue demanding that citizenship should not be distributed to those who come after marriage without a time limit.
In the meanwhile, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)Nepal took out a torch rally on Saturday afternoon against the citizenship Bill passed by the parliament.
People’s organizations of RPP Nepal have protested the bill saying that it will cause serious damage to the nationality, sovereignty, integrity and self-respect. On Saturday evening, party-related youths, students and leaders and activists of youth front took out the rally stating that the points of the Citizenship Bill are controversial, unfair and against the national interest.
