Cholera patients increasing every day, govt’s widespread apathy to control

Kathmandu, 2 July: Two weeks ago, only two persons were infected with cholera in Kathmandu Valley. The Ministry of Health and Population also appealed for vigilance. However, due to lack of control measures, the infection is increasing every other day.

According to the Department of Health Services, Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), cholera has been confirmed in 17 people in a period of two weeks. Cholera infection is seen in one person daily in average. Five of the cholera patients are undergoing treatment Shukraraj Tropical and Communicable Diseases Hospital, Teku and one at Patan Hospital.
