Kathmandu, 18 June: Home Minister Balkrishna Khand and Law and Justice Minister Govinda Prasad Sharma Bandi Koirala visited Balkot to meet main opposition party leader K.P. Sharma Oli on Friday, 17 June.
They discussed ratifying the new citizenship bill under the consideration of Parliament.
The government is seeking support from the main opposition party for ratifying the bill and the two ministers had visited Balkot under the instruction of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The State Management and Good Governance Committee in Parliament has already endorsed the citizenship amendment bill for amending the citizenship law 2063 BS.
The Bill has introduced a new provision for providing Nepali naturalized citizenship to the foreign wife married to a Nepali national.
Different political parties have differed on such a provision.
