Kathmandu, 18 June: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma has left for Lebanon today. Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki bade a farewell to a seven-member Army team led by Sharma at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
The team is scheduled to take stock of the situation and operational activities of the Nepali peacekeepers in war-hit Lebanon and Syria. The Nepali Army personnel have been deployed to the countries for peacekeeping at the call of the United Nations.
During the visit the Army chief will meet with high ranking officials of the UN mission in Lebanon, according to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information. Following this, CoAS Sharma is scheduled to visit the United States of America from June 27 to July 1 at an official invitation his American counterpart. He will return home on July 3.
