Kathmandu, 17 June: The International Relation Committee of the House of Representatives has instructed the government to formally inform the US government about its non-involvement in the State Partnership Program (SPP). The committee issued the directive on Friday after discussions with Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka, Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma and foreign and defense secretaries.
Stating that the facts show that SPP is part of the US military strategy, the parliamentary committee asked the government to inform the US in writing that Nepal will not take part in the SPP.
