Kathmandu, 3 November: Campaigners have decided to launch “Occupy Tundikhel” (open ground) on 9 November protesting against encroachment of the open ground by different organs.
On the occasion of the World Liberation Day, 9 November, the campaign will be launched, said campaigner Ganapatilal Shrestha.
Tundikhel carries political, social and historical importance, and thus, to preserve its glory, the campaign is being launched, said Shrestha.
Shrestha said that after removing structures constructed at Tundikhel, the land will be kept for public use.
“We plan to bring the historical Tundikhel in the people’s ownership,” he said.
On 9 November, a human chain will encircle Tundikhel, he said.
Currently, half portion of the Tundikhel is encroached by the Nepal Army and Open Theater has converted into a parking spot.
