Kathmandu, 12 July: A Yeti Airlines aircraft with 64 persons on board including crew members had a lucy escape as it skid off the runway while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)on Friday. Flights to and from the lone international airport were affected due to the incident for at least five hours
The aircraft ATR-72 was flying from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. All national and international flights have been suspended since 11 am and those were about land at the TIA were diverted to New Delhi, Lakhnau and Kolkatta,according to TIA officials.
Nepal Army and other security personnel are trying their best to remove the aircraft from the runway but in vain thereby causing uncertainty of resuming operation.
