Kathmandu, 11 July: The Supreme Court has issued an order today seeking a copy of the documents relating to a murder case lodged against former Minister and erstwhile CPN-Maoist (Centre) leader Agni Prasad Sapkota at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The murder had taken place during the insurgency.
According to media reports, a constitutional bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Meera Khadka and Hari Krishna Karki demanded to order a copy of the document of the case against leader Sapkota regarding murder of Arjun Lama of Kavrepalanchowk district.
The SC has also asked the Commission to appraise it of the case.
Lama was abducted by then Maoist party’s cadres and his dead body was found two months later in 2062 BS. Lama’s spouse Purni Maya Lama had filed a case in the District Court, Kavrepalanchowk on 2069 BS naming leader Sapkota as one of the person involved in the murder of her husband.
An appeal of same case had been registered in the Supreme Court. Earlier in 2062 BS, the joint bench of the then Supreme Court Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Om Prakash Mishra had decided that the constitutional bench would do the hearing on the case.
