Protest in front of Sriankan embassy

Kathmandu, 2 July: Various organizations including the Amnesty International Nepal have launched peaceful protest against Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena’s signing on June 26 a decree for executing death sentence to four people convicted of drug offense.

Along with AI Nepal, Advocacy Forum, Accountability Watch Group, Jury Nepal and Common Platform of Conflict Victims protested in front of the Sri Lankan Embassy at Maharajgunj today.

The Sri Lankan government had suspended death penalty for the last 43 years but had announced through a notice on June 26 that the four accused persons would be executed.
