Prime Minister and parliamentary party leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Sharma Oli claimed on Tuesday that he had arranged for the increment of potato and paddy production.
This remarks that the Prime Minister made while addressing the meeting of the parliamentary party of his party came as a joke for many, mostly journalists.
Obliviously, it was good weather that contributed to the growth, but the PM said it was due to the arrangement he made.
He also announced to demolish the sheds erected in the Bhrikuti Mandap and bring all involved in encroaching the land of Lalita Niwas to book. But he denied the involvement of party general secretary Bishnu Poudel in the case, clearly hinting that the socilait-oriented government will try its best to give a clean chit for its general secretary who had bought eight annas of the garbed land of Baluwatar.
In his nearly 90-minute speech, the Prime Minister criticised the opposition party and asked the party lawmakers to work as change agents for social and economic transformation.
Prime Minister Oli told them to work with high morals.
“Do not think that nothing has been done in a year, piles of mess accumulating in the system for long time have been cleared and cleaned up,” he said.
“Had other parties been in power, they would have not achieved these feats,” he added.
The Prime Minister mentioned the contribution-based social security programmes, insurance for the elderly, achieving more than 6 per cent growth target in three years, completing some of the major projects like Bheri Babai before time as the big achievements made by government in a year.
Prime Minister Oli disagreed with the logics of the main opposition to bring Netra Bikram Chand led group to mainstream politics and said that the government would not withdraw its decision on the group.
