Pakistan embassy keen on tourism promotion between Nepal and Pakistan: Envoy

Ambassador of Pakistan Dr. Mazhar Javed said that the Pakistan Embassy is keen for tourism promotion between Nepal and Pakistan.
Speaking at an interaction programme jointly organised by the Pakistan Embassy and Council of World Affairs on 25 February in Kathmandu, the ambassador said that he will take special initiative to start direct flight to Kathmandu from Karachi and Islamabad. He informed that some Pakistani private sector airlines may start air service to Kathmandu soon.
He also informed that Nepal and Pakistan are celebrating 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 2020. On 20 March, 1960, the diplomatic relations between the two countries was established.
On the other hand, Nepal is observing 2020 as the Visit Nepal Year. Therefore, the year 2020 will be special year for Nepal and Pakistan, the ambassador said.
Along with trade promotion, tourism promotion between the two countries is equally important, he said and informed, he has given priority on connectivity between the two nations.
Perhaps, after five year, Nepal and Pakistan can trade via China’s Tibet using the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as roads are very good, the ambassador remarked.
Om Sharan, who has visited different Buddhist shrines in Pakistan and Afghanistan and currently engaged in making documentary on Lord Buddha, and former ambassador Dr Mohan Lohani had present paper on prospects of tourism promotion between the two countries.
Participations at the programme expressed their concern on air connectivity between the two countries. Some participants even argued for operating air-service via trans-Himalayan route from Islamabad to Kathmandu using the Chinese sky in the north.
