Kathmandu, Sept 14: Flydubai will launch direct Dubai-Pokhara flights from September 23, providing Pokhara International Airport (PIA) with a new international connection.
The airline’s aircraft is scheduled to arrive at Pokhara at 6:15 PM and depart for Dubai at 7:15 PM after taking on passengers and cargo.
According to Tribhuvan International Airport information officer Binod Singh Rawat, Flydubai will use Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft, depending on passenger demand. The A319 can carry around 140 to 150 passengers, while the A320 has capacity for 160 to 180.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal approved Flydubai’s Dubai-Pokhara service in May following the airline’s feasibility study.
Flydubai says fares from Pokhara could be up to Rs 5,000 cheaper than those from Kathmandu. Through its codeshare partnership with Emirates, passengers will also be able to book onward connections from Pokhara to destinations in Australia, Europe and North America on a single ticket.
The airline serves more than 120 destinations worldwide.
PIA, built with a loan of around Rs 22 billion, opened in January 2023 but has struggled to attract regular international services. The government had pledged to use diplomatic initiatives to bring more international airlines to the airport.
