Kathmandu, Sept 9: The Nepal Army has sought the assistance of former energy minister Kulman Ghising in the ongoing rescue operation inside a tunnel at the Chilime Hydropower Project in Rasuwa.
The Army asked Ghising to provide technical coordination and advice needed to help a team including foreign experts reach the powerhouse, according to his secretariat. Following the Army’s request, Ghising headed to Chilime on Wednesday in a vehicle provided by the hydropower project.
Rescue operations are underway at seven of the nine hydropower projects in Rasuwa and Nuwakot affected by the flood that swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on August 26.
The Trishuli floods have so far killed 1,367 people, while more than 4,000 remain missing.
