Kathmandu, Sept 5: Families of police officers who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi floods will receive a total of Rs 2.04 million in financial assistance.
According to the Nepal Police, the families will receive Rs 300,000 from the Police Welfare Fund, Rs 40,000 from the fund for funeral expenses, Rs 500,000 in insurance from Rastriya Banijya Bank, Rs 200,000 from the Rastriya Beema Sansthan, and Rs 1 million in relief from the police organisation.
Similarly, special loans taken from the Nepal Police Welfare Fund by police officers who died in the floods in Rasuwa will be waived.
Nepal Police said it has decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of the deceased officers from the organisation.
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, interested family members of the deceased will be provided with vocational training and employment opportunities.
The children of deceased police officers will also be allowed to study at police schools with their educational fees waived.
A meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki decided on measures ranging from loan waivers to providing Rs 1 million to the families of deceased police officers.
