Kathmandu, August 7: Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited has launched the ‘Bill Jitau’ feature on its mobile banking app, MBL M-Smart, to support the Inland Revenue Department’s Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program.
According to the Government of Nepal’s budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, the Inland Revenue Department introduced the Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program to encourage consumers to collect bills, promote digital payments, and make the tax system more transparent. Under the program, eligible consumers will have an opportunity to win cash prizes through regular lucky draws.
Customers who purchase goods or services worth more than Rs. 100 for personal use within Nepal and make digital payments through a bank or wallet using the bank’s mobile banking app will have their eligible transactions automatically included in the Inland Revenue Department’s system. Therefore, no separate registration is required.
Machhapuchchhre Bank customers can conveniently view the total number of eligible transactions, details of qualifying transactions, and information related to prize winnings in one place by logging into the MBL M-Smart app and accessing the relevant menu.
Under the program, the Inland Revenue Department conducts regular lucky draws from eligible transactions. One winner receives Rs. 100,000 after tax deduction every day, while one bumper prize winner receives Rs. 1 million every 15 days.
On this occasion, Machhapuchchhre Bank has encouraged all its customers to make digital payments for every purchase exceeding Rs. 100.
“The Bank remains committed to supporting the Government’s digital payment and tax awareness initiatives by making digital banking more convenient, secure, and customer-friendly. The Bank encourages customers to actively participate in the program with the message: ‘Make digital payments, collect bills, keep them safe, and don’t miss the opportunity to win prizes of up to Rs. 1 million,” the Bank has stated.
