
Kathmandu, March 20: Proportional representation lawmakers of the House of Representatives have received their certificates of election. The certificates were distributed on Thursday, March 19, at a program held at the Election Commission office in Kantipath.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, along with commissioners Sagun Shamsher Jabara and Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, presented khadas and garlands to the lawmakers. Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut handed over the certificates.
In the House of Representatives election held on March 5, six parties secured seats under the proportional representation system. The allocation of seats was based on the PR vote share.
Under the PR category, the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 57 seats, the Nepali Congress 20, CPN UML 16, and the Communist Party of Nepal nine seats. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party and the Shram Sanskriti Party each won four seats.
The Election Commission had published the list of 110 elected PR lawmakers on March 16, following which the certificates have now been formally distributed.
