Two hundi operators arrested in Nagarjun with Rs 11.6 million cash

Kathmandu, March 17: Police have arrested two men from Bhimdhunga in Nagarjun Municipality, Kathmandu, for their involvement in illegal hundi and digital currency transactions.

A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested them with cash amounting to Rs 11.6 million. Police acted after receiving information that illegal digital currency trading was taking place in the area.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Sagar Giri and 28-year-old Pramod Prasad Dhital, both residents of Nagarjun Municipality Ward 8.

Police said the Kathmandu District Court has granted a five-day extension to keep them in custody for further investigation.

During the operation, police also seized several items from them. These include cheques issued in the names of different individuals from various banks, a cheque worth Rs 2.73 million written in the names of different people, ATM cards and citizenship certificates belonging to multiple individuals.

Police also confiscated two four-wheeler vehicles, one two-wheeler, three vehicle registration books, six mobile phones from different companies, 31 SIM cards, and one computer along with other materials.
