Baglung, March 4: Mahabir Pun has won the House of Representatives election from Myagdi as an independent candidate with a large margin.
Myagdi has only one electoral constituency. Pun defeated Hari Krishna Shrestha of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist), securing more than three times the votes of his rival.
Pun received 22,850 votes. Shrestha obtained 7,919 votes. Karna Bahadur Bhandari of the Nepali Congress secured 6,676 votes.
Arjun Thapa of the Nepal Communist Party received 3,529 votes.
The Office of the Chief Election Officer has yet to make the formal announcement of the result.
Out of a total of 86,397 registered voters in the district, 46,215 cast their ballots.
