Kathmandu, Oct 11: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shashanka Koirala has urged party president Sher Bahadur Deuba to immediately dissolve the party’s central working committee and appoint an acting president.
Speaking to journalists at the party headquarters in Sanepa on Saturday, Koirala said the party should hold its regular general convention in November–December (Mangsir). For that, he said, Deuba should delegate the responsibility to an acting president who can then set the date for the convention.
“It should be a regular, not a special convention,” Koirala said. “I told Sher Bahadurji that this is my personal opinion. I asked him to dissolve the committee, appoint an acting president, let that person form a new committee, and decide the date. I believe the date can be fixed by November–December.”
He clarified that the acting president to be appointed would be responsible for finalizing the date of the upcoming general convention.
