Kathmandu, Sept 22,: The government has opened route permits nationwide for Dashain travel starting today (Ghatasthapana). The permits will remain valid until October 8 (the day after the full moon).
According to the Department of Transport Management, the decision to open route permits was made at a stakeholders’ meeting held last Tuesday.
Restrictions will still apply to certain sizes and types of public vehicles on routes where they are specifically prohibited due to the road’s nature.
To ease passenger movement, the government has decided to ban trailers and other large vehicles, except those carrying food and essential goods, from operating on the Narayanghat-Kathmandu route from September 22 (Ghatasthapana) to October 6 (Purnima).
Import and export vehicles will be allowed to operate on this route except on days when customs offices are closed.
