Kathmandu, September 19: Today, Asoj 3, is the Constitution Day. In 2015, in this day, the Constitution was promulgated by the then President Rambaran Yadav but the same day, the Constitution was burn by different political parties and a bloody unrest was witnessed in different Tarai districts, which claimed lives of many youths, including security personnel.
The Constitution, the very first day, was colored with the blood of many dissatisfied youths, had established a bloody record.
The very constitution, within its ten years, is alive with the artificial support as the Gen Z movement on September 8 has suspended the House of Representatives and President Ramchandra Paudel is alone as the protector of the Constitution. One among the major demands of the Gen Z revolution was to scrap the constitution, yet, it is alive through an agreement reached between the representatives of the Gen-Z movement and the President, coordinated by Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
If the Army had not rescued the Constitution, it would have already been dead. The political leaders in the previous government were provided safe shelter by the Nepal Army.
Anyway, some political parties are scheduled to observe the Constitution Day. There is a formal program to “celebrate” the Constitution Day at the Nepal Army Pavilion at Tundikhel.
Constitution Day is being observed at a time when youths launched a huge demonstration; the erstwhile government led by K.P. Sharma Oli and supported by the two major parties, NC and UML, claimed at least 73 lives nationwide.
