27 judges, including the secretary of the Judicial Council, have been recommended for judges at High Courts

Kathmandu, August 7: Twenty-seven judges, including the secretary of the Judicial Council, have been recommended for appointment as judges of High Courts.
Secretary of the Judicial Council Yam Bahadur Budhamagar is at the top of the recommendations. Budhamagar is the only officer in the list to be appointed as a judge from a special category officer. The other officers who are going to become judges from the staff are the joint secretaries.
A total of five employees will be elevated as judges of the High Court, while 16 will be elevated from among district judges.
Gopal Prasad Bastola is at the forefront of the district judges being recommended to the high court. He is currently serving in the Dhading District Court. He was previously excluded despite being ahead in terms of preference and efficiency.
Names recommended from the district judges to the High Courts are Giriraj Gautam, Yuvraj Gautam, Tejnarayan Poudel, Prakash Dhungana, Deepak Kumar Kharel, Shiv Bahadur Rana and Kamal Prasad Pokharel.
Dal Bahadur KC, Basudev Bhuiyan, Prakash Chandra Adhikari, Keshav Prasad Adhikari, Ramesh Prasad Gyawali, Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai, Deepak Khanal, Avani Mainali Bhattarai are also going to be elevated from among the district judges.
Similarly, High Court Pokhara’s Registrar Khadgaraj Adhikari, Assistant Advocate Shankar Khatri, Supreme Court City Registrar Achyuta Kuncail and Law Ministry Joint Secretary Komal Bahadur Khatri have also been recommended for appointment as High Court judges.
From the legal profession, Sharmila Thapa Bisht (Manamaiju 9, Kathmandu), Pratap Singh Thakurathi (Mahendranagar 4, Kanchanpur), Balkrishna Gaire (Shiv Mandir 7, Nawalparasi), Nisha Banian (Lekhnath 1, Kaski), Shyamkumar Bishwakarma (Sabhapokhari-1, Sankhuwasabha) and Arunkumar Panjiar (Janakpur-15, Dhanusha) have been recommended to the High Court judges.
