
Kathmandu, May 16: A delegation led by Batu Khasikov, the head of Kalmykia under the Russian Federation, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday.
Various aspects of the friendly relations between Nepal and Russia were discussed during the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat stated that Chief Khasikov invited Prime Minister Oli to participate in the International Buddhist Conference to be held in Kalmykia in September.
On the same occasion, Prime Minister Oli requested him to convey his message to Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin the invitation for an official visit to Nepal.
Prime Minister Oli also urged to convey his message not to recruit Nepalis into the Russian army in the absence of any military agreement between Nepal and Russia. In response, Chief Kashikov assured that such recruitment would not be done in the future.
The meeting was attended by Russian Ambassador Alexei Novikov and high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
