Royal massacre will be investigated: PM

By Our Reporter

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the Royal massacre of 2001 will be investigated. It was the first time, a sitting PM had made such a comment 23 years after the Nepali people lost their king and his entire family in a mysterious incident on June 1, 2001 when the violence waged by the Maoists was at its peak.

Talking to journalists at the Simara Airport on Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Dahal said that the Royal massacre that occurred on June 1, 2001 at Narayanhiti Palace, Kathmandu would be investigated.

While making such an odd comment, the PM also indirectly criticized former King Gyanendra.

He said that although the federal democratic republic gives everyone freedom, no one has the right to stand against the system and hatch conspiracies, and his views were targeted at the former king and the leaders loyal to him.

Intellectuals have expressed their doubts that Dahal, who is involved in many serious human rights violation cases cannot dare to investigate the Palace bloodbath.

Recently, the former King said that a conspiracy was created against his family members in the Palace bloodbath.
