Kathmandu, January 27: Former King Gyanendra Shah has said that we should work for the development and upliftment of the country. Addressing the civic reception program held in Birgunj on Saturday, January 27, former King Shah said that we should solve the country’s problems ourselves.
He said, “Building the country and saving the country is a constant voice – we are also called upon.”
“I say, – let’s not forget the legacy of our ancestors, let’s live here, let’s die for our homeland. Our development, our upliftment and the solution to our problems – should be done by ourselves. Others will not come and do it”, the King opined.
Expressing his concern that the mountains, hills, and plains are now becoming desolate, the former King Shah mentioned that now is not the time to desolate our homes and spend sweat and labor for the advancement of others.
He said, “The time has gone to devastate one’s home and spend sweat and labor for the betterment of others.”
“We must now move towards building our own homes, and our own villages by ourselves; our honor and reputation depend on this,” King Gyanendra said.
“Politics of prohibition should end in the country. We should not be divided by geography and land structure; we should not be divided by caste, religion, and culture; our country is Nepal, and all of us who live in Nepal are Nepalis. Therefore, we should not do the politics of division, idolatry, and prohibition. The good of all of us lies in this,” he said.
Also, he commented that disinformation and negative feelings were created among the general public about the incident that took place in the Royal Palace bloodbath on June 1, 2001. He said that there were fatal attacks on his family regarding the incident.
“The devastating incident that happened on June 1, 2001, from which we and our family are sad and don’t like to remember. About which, a cloud of confusion in the minds of many Nepalis was created, which was a political fraud against our family,” he said.
“The truth is always the truth. Falsehood never wins. Even though we have eyewitnesses among us, we are still led astray by ignorance and deception. It is not only unjust but also unfortunate,” he said.
