Janamat Party withdraws support given to Madhes government

By Our Reporter

Because of growing enmity with the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal,

Janamat Party, one of the ruling coalition parties in the centre and provinces, has finally withdrawn its support given to the Madhes Province Government.

A delegation led by the parliamentary party leader of the Janamat Party and Education and Culture Minister of the Madhes Government, Mahesh Prasad Yadav on Tuesday submitted a letter to Province Chief Hari Shankar Mishra informing that the party withdrew its support given to the government of Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav effective from Tuesday itself.

Janamat Party decided to quit the government after Minister Yadav and Janamat Party’s Assembly member Satish Kumar Yadav were injured in a police clash during a demonstration held by the party in Saptari on Monday.

The clash erupted when Janata Samajwadi Party chairman Upendra Yadav reached there to lay the foundation stone of the Agriculture University. With the withdrawal of the support, Chief Minister Yadav, who is from Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, now needs to prove his majority in the Provincial Assembly.

Now after quitting the Madhes government, the party may also quit the central government prompting Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to show his majority again.

The party had two ministers in Madhes while one was serving in the centre. It is reported that the Janamat Party is preparing to launch a protest in Madhes after quitting the government.
