After an excruciatingly long period of suspense, it would seem that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will finally be proceeding to New Delhi on an official visit in mid-February.
From what had been made known thus far, the official invitation from Indian Prime Minister P.V Narasimha Rao will be handed over to his Nepalese counterpart by the Indian minister for external relations Pranab Mukherjee when he visits Kathmandu towards the end of this month.
While much of the uncertainties surrounding the proposed visit should now be dispelled, it would nevertheless be worthwhile to recall some of the curious circumstances and speculation regarding the belated Deuba visit.
