A 5-member delegation of Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences (YASS) led by its Vice-President Prof. Huang Xiaojun, currently on a visit to Nepal, participated in an interaction with office bearers of the China Study Center presided over by its officiating chairman Sundar Nath Bhattarai.
CP Mainali, secretary-general of CPN (ML), guest of honor at the programme, briefed the delegation about the evolution of communist movement in Nepal, followed by the emergence of various communist party organizations, including the recently unified Nepal Communist Party (NCP)
He opined that Mao’s concept of Socialism with Chinese characteristics was an innovative concept which played a contributory role in adding to thescope of socialism on its own way.
Chairman Bhattarai briefed about the activities of Center which were contributory to the amelioration of Nepal-China relations.
He opined that particularly after the much awaited and historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, relations were elevated to a new height and has entered into a new era of the ‘strategic partnership’ between the two countries.
Both countries are committed to working together for the maintenance of peace and stability in the region, he remarked.
Prof Mohan Lohani, CSC advisor, described President Xi Jingping’s visit after a gap of 23 years as an event of historic significance. The visit, he remarked, has opened up new avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors, including cross-Himalayan multidimensional connectivity network. The people of Nepal look forward to benefiting from the spectacular growth of the Chinese economy, he said.
Vice-President Prof Huang emphasized on the importance of Nepal-China relations which would continue to flourish in the years ahead with substantial cooperation between the governments and people of the two countries with shared benefits to the population of both the countries.
