Kathmandu, 3 November: The government is planning to give on rent the Lamjung Room of the Narayanhitty Royal Palace, which is converted into a museum at present.
The government has planned to provide the Room on rent for organising party with drinks and dinner.
During the King’s rule, the Room was being used for hosting party by King Tribhuvan, Mahendra and Birendra in honour of foreign dignitaries visiting Nepal.
Staffers working there have opposed the government decision of devaluating the historical importance of the Room.
On 20 September, Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai, secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari and Department of Archeology’s acting director general had visited the Room and discussed for providing the Room on rent, reports Nepal Samachar Patra daily.
