Four die in Indrasarovar EV accident

Hetauda, Sept 16: The four people who died when an electric vehicle crashed in Salle Sukoura of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality 2, Makwanpur, on Tuesday afternoon have been identified.

According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, the victims were from Nawalparasi East, Dhanusha, Parsa and Bara.

The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Nar Bahadur Singh Thakuri of Kawasoti Municipality 1, Nawalparasi East; 43-year-old Suraj Bhattarai of Dhanushadham Municipality 4, Dhanusha; 44-year-old Bhuvaneshwar Sah Kanu of Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality 2, Parsa; and 32-year-old Sarfaroz Miyan of Parwanipur Rural Municipality 3, Bara.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Kafle said all four died at the scene. Their identities were established using passports, citizenship certificates and national identity cards found with them.

The accident occurred at around 2 pm in Sukoura, Indrasarovar 2, along the shorter route connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu. The vehicle, Madhesh Province 03 001 J 0720, was travelling from Kathmandu toward Birgunj when it plunged about 1,000 metres off the road.

A 21-member team from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force was immediately deployed to the site to rescue the injured, under the command of Makwanpur District Police Chief Superintendent Shyam Bahadur Khatri.

Police said additional teams of 10 personnel from the Gorakh Bahadur Battalion of the Nepal Army and 10 from the Armed Police Force Disaster Management Base, Kulekhani, were also mobilised.
