Pokhara Police bust forest party, dozens held on drug charges

Pokhara, April 1: A late-night police operation shut down an illegal party in a forest-side house in Pokhara-18, Sedi, detaining 38 young people and preparing charges against 12 of them.

Police moved in around midnight after reports of suspicious activity at the isolated property. The house, owned by Krishna Parajuli, had been rented by a group led by Bamendra Pun to host what was meant to be a multi-day gathering.

According to SP Nabin Karki, officers found clear signs of drug use and distribution at the site. Seized substances included MDMA, hashish, suspected cocaine and heroin, crystal meth, marijuana, LSD in both liquid and paper form, and psilocybin mushrooms. Authorities also confiscated cash and mobile phones.

Among those facing drug-related charges are two Indian nationals and a Brazilian citizen, along with several Nepali attendees identified as organizers or active participants. Police are still deciding the legal course for the remaining detainees.

Investigators say the event openly facilitated the sale and consumption of high-grade narcotics, which is strictly prohibited under Nepali law. Four others will be charged separately for misconduct.

Officials added that the party was planned to run for three days before the raid cut it short, suggesting a more organized setup than just a casual gathering.
