
Kathmandu, April 1: Police have arrested 16 middlemen from various transport offices in Kathmandu for disrupting public services and harassing service seekers.
According to police, the individuals were charging people to renew vehicle registration booklets (blue books), interfering with official processes and causing unnecessary delays and trouble.
A team from Swayambhu Police detained eight individuals from the transport office in Sanobharang. Those arrested include Bal Bahadur Sunar (Rautahat), Bigyan Rai and Ramesh Karki (Ramechhap), Sanjay Rajbahak and Bimal Tamang (Kathmandu), Suman Prasad Shrestha (Kailali), Uddhav Khanal (Nuwakot), and Kalpana Lamsal (Dhading).
Thankot Police also arrested another eight individuals from the transport office in Gurjudhara. The detainees include Pasang Tamang and Sudip Magar (Kathmandu), Sunil Lama (Kavre), Buddha Tamang and Aman Tamang (Dhading), Sumesh Nepali (Makwanpur), Ujwal Singh (Bajhang), and Dilip Rai (Morang).
Police recovered Rs 122,000 in cash and 53 blue books from their possession. Authorities said further investigation into the case is underway.
