C.P. Gajurel succeeds Mohan Baidhya in CPN Revolutionary

Kathmandu, October 19: Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’, General Secretary of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal, has resigned voluntarily from his post. The 80-year-old veteran leader cited health reasons for stepping down.

Following his resignation, the party has appointed C.P. Gajurel as the new General Secretary.

Kiran had been serving as General Secretary for a long time but his health no longer permitted him to continue, so the Central Committee entrusted Gajurel with the role. Kiran will now serve as an advisor and member of the special committee.

Baidya had earlier formed the CPN–Maoist in 2012 (2069 BS) after breaking away from Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s Maoist party. He later became the General Secretary of the Revolutionary Communist Party formed through a unity convention held in Mangsir 2081 (December 2024).
