
Kathmandu, Sept 19 – The United States has said it will continue to work with Nepal to promote stability in South Asia and contribute to building a safe and stable world.
It also made clear that it supports the Nepali people’s desire for a government that upholds the constitution and is transparent.
In a message of congratulations on Nepal’s Constitution Day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “We look forward to continuing close cooperation with Nepal in promoting stability in South Asia and contributing to building a safe and stable world.”
The US said the people of Nepal deserve a hopeful future that advances economic growth, strengthens regional security, and promotes prosperity for all.
Rubio added that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact will help expand Nepal’s transport and energy infrastructure, create jobs, boost long-term economic growth, strengthen the US–Nepal partnership, and create business opportunities for American companies.
He also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during recent protests.
