Kathmandu, Sept 19: President Ramchandra Paudel said Constitution Day should inspire everyone to unite to achieve lasting peace, good governance, development, and prosperity through a federal democratic republican system.
In his Constitution Day message, he called on all citizens to dedicate their thoughts, words, and actions to putting the spirit of the Constitution into practice and to make sincere and effective efforts from their respective roles.
He said Nepal’s constitution envisions an egalitarian society based on social justice and aims to build a socialist-oriented economy. He added that the constitution ended discrimination and oppression created by the centralized unitary system and brought together Nepal’s diverse ethnic, linguistic, religious, cultural, and geographic communities under a common national unity.
President Paudel stressed that all citizens must have equal access to state services guaranteed by the constitution and that social security should be ensured for all.
He said Nepal’s culture and natural resources open doors to unlimited opportunities for jobs and income and expressed confidence that by ending malpractices and managing water and energy resources through good governance, Nepal could soon reach the front ranks of developed nations.
