BP Highway being operated around the clock

Kathmandu, September 17: The Kavrebnjang-Bhakundebeshi section of the flood-damaged BP Highway is now going to be operational for 24 hours.

The District Security Committee has decided to lift the ban on night traffic in this section from today for the convenience of passengers during the upcoming Dussehra-Tihar festival.

Earlier, the movement of vehicles was banned from 5 pm to 5 am till end of Bhadra with the aim of reducing the risk of road blockage due to landslides in the normal year. However, a meeting of the District Safety Committee held on Monday decided to operate traffic 24 hours in accordance with the approved safety action plan by adopting road safety awareness.

The road will be operated for 24 hours for the smooth travel of passengers during the upcoming festival, all concerned will have to follow the road safety standards.

The district administration has urged the commuters to be aware of the possible danger situation and said that the monitoring for road safety will be intensified.
