Kathmandu, Sept 15: Families of those killed by police bullets during the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 23 have submitted an eight-point demand to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

In their memorandum submitted on Sunday (Bhadra 29), the families stated:
“On behalf of the families of those who sacrificed their lives during the peaceful Gen Z movement on Bhadra 23, 2082, we collectively submit the following demands for Cabinet decision and request you, Honorable Prime Minister, to fulfill them immediately.”

On Monday (Bhadra 30), Prime Minister Karki instructed the Chief Secretary to take necessary action on the demands.

The demands are:

1. Declare Bhadra 23 as “Gen Z National Day.”
2. Declare all those who lost their lives on Bhadra 23 and 24 during the peaceful Gen Z movement as national martyrs.
3. Hold state funerals for all victims and fly the national flag at half-mast for 30 days as a period of national mourning.
4. Provide a minimum of 5 million rupees in compensation and lifetime pension equal to that of a government secretary to each bereaved family.
5. Complete all hospital procedures, hold a national tribute program, conduct a funeral procession around the Ring Road (Chakrapath), and then hand over the bodies to the families.
6. Transport all bodies to their home districts by army helicopter, arrange a funeral procession there, and provide 100,000 rupees immediately for funeral expenses.
7. Ensure proper care, employment, health, education, and allowances for parents, spouses, siblings, and children of the victims.
8. Identify and immediately suspend those responsible for ordering the shooting and violent crackdown, including security chiefs, chief district officers, and field commanders, and take the toughest legal action against them.
