
Kathmandu, Sept 14: The death toll from the ongoing “Gen-Z” protests has reached 72 across the country, including three police personnel.
At Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday (Bhadra 29), Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal confirmed the figure. The government has decided to declare all the deceased as martyrs and provide each family with 1 million rupees in compensation.
Six bodies found in Chucchepati Bhatbhateni
Meanwhile, six bodies were recovered from the Bhattabhateni Supermarket in Chucchepati, Kathmandu. According to SP Apilraj Bohora of Kathmandu District Police, the bodies were found while cleaning the store, which had been completely burned. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.
Since Bhadra 23, the Gen-Z protests have caused widespread loss of life and property, with incidents of vandalism and arson reported nationwide on September 9.
