Kathmandu, September 13: President Ram Chandra Poudel, under the recommendation of newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki, has dissolved the House of Representatives effective from September 12.
According to a statement signed by Deputy Secretary of the President’s Office Rupeshjang Thapa Magar, the current House of Representatives has been dissolved from 11: 00 pm on Friday (September 12).

According to the statement, the next date for the election of the new House of Representatives has been set for Thursday, March 5, 2026.

This is the third time that the present HoR has been dissolved. Earlier, twice, the then prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli had dissolved the House, but the Supreme Court had reinstated it.

Responding to one of the major demands of the Gen Z movement, President Paudel was compelled to dissolve the HoR.

He was buying time as leaders of major political parties had advised him not to dissolve the House.
